Dear All
At Kintbury Rangers Football Club we are working hard to bring you a club with a BRIGHT FUTURE. To give the Club such a future, I have collated information and applied to the Football Association for the 2Charter Status” we so deserve. If this is granted it will hopefully allow the club to progress in the league and give up and coming talented youngsters the opportunity to play for a club with an outstanding and proud history. Development is so important to a village club to sustain momentum and continue. We are looking into having an under 18’s team in the Youth League next year, although this is not yet confirmed.
To gain status we need to have qualified staff on and off the pitch. At present we have no less than 6 committee members who have all gained FA 1st aid qualifications this year; we also need qualified coaching staff and qualified physiotherapists, which fortunately we have already.
We are now appealing for help in financing a very important project , which has been on hold for the past 2 years, which is to build a new, separate shower and changing block and to refurbish the existing clubhouse. he help we receive should enable us to fund a project the club have put on hold for 2 years, which is to build a new, separate shower and changing block and to refurbish the existing clubhouse. These are the details and also included is an appeal for funds/donations.
Phase 1 --New Build Shower & Changing block
Kintbury Rangers FC have had planning permission granted for over 2 years to build a new shower and changing block behind the goal at the club house end. It will also have disable access incorporated.
Inside the new block, each changing room will consist of a seating area for 20 players, 6 showers and drying off area and toilets along with 2 areas for the officials (1 with disabled facilities), also with toilets, shower and seating area. The entrance will have a ramp access out to the pitch. Each section within the building will have high level windows, lighting all around the building, all fixtures will be modern and up to date.
To enable this to happen finance is needed. Its estimated at a cost of around £250, 000 for this project alone.
Because the football club is a non-profit organisation and the money we make is put back into the club so the club can pay officials, insurance, affiliation etc, we will be approaching the football foundation and the lottery funds for help but we are in need of local help to start the project off.
Trying to get funding from various sources can be a long drawn out process but with community help we could make a good start to the project and get it moving in the right direction. If you know someone who can help with this project or you yourself can help please contact me direct and I will be happy to discuss plan etc and maybe we could start it rolling.
Phase 2—Refurbishment of the existing Clubhouse.
This will not be possible until phase 1 is completed. When it is done the existing building will incorporate a new larger Kitchen, improved toilet facilities for both men and women, and a much larger lounge area to the bar. The cost has not yet been estimated as the main project will take priority, however when completed the club will be on offer to anyone within Kintbury for hire.
Please remember Kintbury Rangers is first and foremost a village football team, we want to be in the position to offer the future players of the village the opportunities of playing for their local club and who knows where it will take them. Heritage and history for the village football club is very important and we must all do our best to preserve it and improve on it.

History of the Club
Formed in 1890. – very little evidence of the early teams now remains.
Between the World Wars a very successful team was fielded.
Throughout the Second World War the team continued to play friendly matches against local Army and RAF camps and also with prisoner of war camps on the outskirts of the village.
1940’s
In 1943 the club was reformed and quickly became one of the leading clubs in West Berkshire, winning the Newbury Graystone Cup on two occasions in the Newbury and District League. * see notes
1950’s
In mid-1950’s many players had retired and a new line up of local players went on to win the Newbury & District Premier Division Championship in the 1958/59 season.
1960’s
Continued success was achieved in the, the club reaching both the Berks and Bucks Intermediate and the Newbury Graystone Cup finals in the 1960/61 season, only losing by the odd goal. In the 1964/65 season the club once again, after 14 years, lifted the Newbury Graystone Cup.
1970’s
The club joined the North Berks League and enjoyed many successful seasons, the highlight being winning the North Berks League Cup in the 1972/73 season.
1980’s
After over ten seasons in the North Berks League the club was elected to join the Hellenic League in 1983.
Kintbury Rangers started in Division One but was promoted to the Premier League in 1987/88, finishing third behind Cheltenham Town Reserves.
1990’s
The club sought to stabilise in senior football. An extension to the clubhouse was built and floodlights were erected during the early 90’s. The following seasons saw very commendable mid-table finishes. The club then experienced an unsettled period, seeing many managers come and go. However, they still managed to reach the Hellenic League Premier Cup Final in the 1996/97 season, losing 1-0 to Swindon Supermarine.
In the late 90’s the club succumbed to the financial strain of senior football and in 1999/2000 decided to return to North Berks football to re-group.
2001
The club finished the season runners up in Division One and won the North Berkshire Cup
2002
Further success was enjoyed by taking the Charity Shield North Berkshire Cup and league.
2003
The treble was completed again under the management of Nigel Thorne.
2004
Jim Greenwood took on the manager’s role, winning both the league and North Berkshire Cup.
2004/05
This season saw Kintbury make the step back up to Hellenic League football, entering Division One East and finishing runners up.
2005/06
This season saw the club finish 9th in the league and Jim deciding to step down as manager.
2006/07
Darren Angell and David Ingram took over the manager’s reigns, enjoying an excellent season, reaching the Berks and Bucks Intermediate Cup Final, narrowly losing to Chalfont Wasps 3-2 after extra time and finishing 4th in the league.
2007/08
This season sees a few changes in the club, with Bert Newman deciding to retire as Chairman and being replaced by Nigel Thorn and Darren and David stepping aside as managers, replaced by Jason Braidwood and Craig Adey.
